I thought it was funny that they had a QVC store at the mall.
In front of the closed roller coaster :-(
We weren't sure if we had time to go to the mall, since the plane was a bit late, but I can be pretty determined/stubborn sometimes. So, we asked a security guy and he told us how to take the light rail there. We used a ticket machine to purchase roundtrip light rail tickets ($4), but nobody ever asked us for them. I'm now convinced the tickets were completely unnecessary, but oh well, at least we were honest. But, my dreams of riding the roller coaster were dashed upon arrival. It was 9 a.m. and the mall didn't open until 10 a.m. Doh!!! But, we did get to go in and walk around all the closed stuff. I can now say I've seen the Mall of America. And, now that I have seen it, I'm not so sure it's worth going back. A store is a store whether it has an amusement park in it or not. I can go to the Mall St. Mathews and then head over to Kentucky Kingdom without having to hop a plane.
We landed a bit late in MN due to taking time to de-ice the plane in Louisville (which I don't entirely understand...isn't it just going to get icy again in the sky?).As you may have read in my earlier post, my goal for the layover was to run to the Mall of America and ride the indoor roller coaster. I figured I was taking a big risk on the flying thing (yeah, I know, I've seen the airplane safety stats...doesn't help) might as well make it as adventurous as possible (knowing the true part of the adventure would be getting back through security with a husband asking me why I had forced him to go through security again just to see the Mall of America).
