Our hotel...not much of a "resort," but oh well, it was cheap
If on Three's Company they had aired an episode where the roommates decided to go to Hawaii, I have a feeling this airport, as it looks now, would look pretty much the same on the show. In other words, not as modern looking as I'd expected. It was 1/2 indoor, 1/2 outdoor.I took off my fleece pullover as soon as I stepped off the plane.

After we got our luggage we found the line for the buses to Waikiki. It was hot and there were a whole lot of people in front of us. Chris spontaneously decided to splurge and rent a car. By far, the BEST decision ever made on a Chris/Amanda vacation. We would have been waiting on that bus forever. Plus, no telling how many stops there would have been before reaching our hotel in Waikiki. We got a white Pontiac G6 and a map and off we went in air conditioned comfort.
First impression of Honolulu? Dirty city. People criticize my beloved NY, but they should see this place. I started to wonder where all the landscapes from the brochures were hiding.
We were also stuck in 5 p.m. traffic.I checked into the hotel while Chris looked for parking. It was $15/day to park at the hotel valet, but Chris found street parking...Free. yay!
Chris was hungry, so we walked around the corner to Lulu's and ended our first evening in Honolulu with dinner.
